We're excited to be continuing our Chair Mobility & Stretching class at SPARC! This class is 30-min long on Mondays & Fridays from 1-1:30pm and the cost is $2 to the instructor (Maria or Rowan).

"Chair Yoga" is a gentle practice in which postures are performed while seated and/or with the aid of a chair. Chair yoga classes typically target those with physical disabilities or aging men/women who find a typical yoga session too challenging. It is also a great form of yoga for beginners or anyone who wants to focus on a gentle practice.

***Please bring a pair of clean indoor shoes for you to change into (in the entryway). Thank you for helping to keep our new floor looking good!***

Through bold contrasts in texture and color, her works find beauty in both the overlooked and the extraordinary, revealing how the natural and built environments intertwine.

The Anchor Point Food Pantry Food Line is open on Fridays from 4-6pm with a food line and a meal.
We provide a weekly food line and meals, monthly TEFAP commodities, holiday food boxes, summer produce, hungry kids' weekend meal packs and a kids' summer lunch bag program.

Bunnell Street Arts Center welcomes Wild Shore New Music as Artists in Residence from September 20-25. Wild Shore’s 13th Alaska festival tour features songwriter Quinn Christopherson and filmmaker Michael Walsh with a 7:30pm concert on Friday, September 25. Doors open with refreshments at 6:30 and will be followed by an artist talk. Wild Shore New Music will make a school visit during their artist residency at Paul Banks Elementary School.

Wild Shore New Music’s thirteenth season foregrounds Indigenous and Alaskan voices through interdisciplinary collaboration, improvisational practice, and chamber music as a site of cultural dialogue. The mainstage program presents a multidisciplinary work in three parts. The first part centers on Ahtna Athabascan and Iñupiaq songwriter Quinn Christopherson, winner of NPR’s 2019 Tiny Desk Contest. Christopherson reimagines his songs for chamber ensemble and co-creates a new work with Wild Shore’s ensemble. The second part pairs live music with experimental films by Alaskan filmmaker Michael Walsh, including Braking Breath (35mm silent color film) and a re-edited mashup of rescued 1970s 16mm educational films from the Alaskan school district, recontextualized into 21st-century motifs. Wild Shore has commissioned composer Matt Evan to reimagine his work Still Live to accompany Braking Breath. The final part brings together all of Wild Shore’s artists for the early stages of a larger work-in-progress, combining film, composition, and improvisation. It features a birch-wood violin made by Christopherson’s great-grandfather, Frank Hobson, known as “The Eskimo Violin Maker.”The 2026 tour expands to six Alaskan communities: Homer, Kenai, Anchorage, Talkeetna, Fairbanks, and Nenana, an Alaska Native village. A Brooklyn concert is also planned for Spring 2027.

Join HCOA in the Marnier Theater and experience unique collaborative performances by some of Homer’s amazing artists: musicians, dancers, video, circus performers, & live visual arts! Homer has such a vibrant arts scene, Homer Rising harnesses the diverse talents across disciplines, and combines them onstage for our community to enjoy together.

Bunnell Street Arts Center announces a call for applications to the Ursa Major Fund, a grant opportunity for Alaska artists. Ten $6000 grants in 2027 support artist-led, risk-taking, public-facing projects. Apply September 1 - October 15, 2026 at https://bunnellarts.submittable.com.

The Ursa Major Fund supported by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and administered by Bunnell Street Arts Center funds the independent, self-organized work of artists and artist groups. Applications open September 1 and close October 15, 2026. The Ursa Major Fund will award ten $6000 grants for projects that support artists to engage their communities and experiment with new possibilities. Applications are adjudicated by panelists primarily from outside of Alaska. Awards will be announced in early 2027.

The Ursa Major Fund is an Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts Regional Regranting Program. The Regional Regranting Program partners with local arts organizations around the country to make grants to artists and collectives for projects that chart new creative territory in their communities. Established in 2007, the Regional Regranting Program is now in 39 cities and regions and supports artists whose work falls outside the scope of traditional presenting organizations and/or funding opportunities. Projects supported by these grants have included queer zines, living room galleries, radical seafaring events, reimagination of customary artwork, virtual reality film screenings, among other public-facing experimental activities. Bunnell Arts became a Regional Regranting Partner in 2025.

You are invited to roll up your sleeves and join us anytime between 10am and 2pm to contribute to a life-size portrait of the biggest piece Dr. Owens has created to date, the 80-foot Fin Whale – one of the hundreds of animals harmed by plastic. This unique project allows the community to contribute to a collaborate artwork, fostering a deepening connection to the ocean and its challenges. Everyone who works on the piece will sign the back, creating a lasting record of all who contribute.

• Seven SFSP bag lunches every Saturday for each youth during the summer (18 & younger). This is for free to help families with children during the summer.

Bunnell Street Arts Center announces a call for applications for Bunnell's Alaska AIR 2027-2028 Artist in Residence program. The application period runs from September 1 - October 15, 2026 on www.callforentry.org.
“ALASKA AIR” ARTIST IN RESIDENCE:
Bunnell Street Arts Center's Alaska AIR residency program seeks international, US and Alaska artists looking to create new work and strengthen the social, physical and economic fabric of Homer through the arts. Residencies of generally one month are scheduled in fall, winter and spring months of 2027 and 2028.
The Alaska AIR program selects artist residencies that strengthen and engage Bunnell's community and address pertinent themes. These may include themes such as accessibility, inclusion, sustainability, stewardship, skills sharing and exchange, connection, joy, and enhancing community well-being. Community engagement strategies might include collective art-making, performances, Artist in Schools programs, workshops for general or specific audiences (i.e. seniors, youth, etc), or other artist-driven visions.
Bunnell accepts artists working in mediums including (but not limited to) visual arts, literary arts, performing arts, social and civic practice, audio art, moving image, movement, music composition, performance, and more.

Call for Gallery Proposals

Applications are open for exhibiting in the Homer Council on the Arts gallery! HCOA is currently accepting proposals for openings in 2027. Applications for the HCOA gallery will automatically be considered for the South Peninsula Hospital gallery as well.

Proposals for HCOA Gallery Exhibits must be completed by 11:59pm on September 30th, 2026. Artists in all media are invited to apply, with preference going to Alaskan artists and priority to those residing on the Kenai Peninsula.
