For its 12th season, Wild Shore New Music honors acclaimed composer Eve Beglarian, whose fearless and genre-defying work explores themes of place, identity, and belonging. Known for her bold, innovative spirit, Beglarian has been praised for her sensuality and experimentation. The Los Angeles Times called her a “humane, idealistic rebel,” while the New York Times lauded her ability to translate landscapes into evocative music. At the center of the 2025 season is a new commission developed during Beglarian’s May residency at Bunnell Street Arts Center in Homer, Alaska, and her travels through the interior up to Fairbanks inspired by the region’s landscape and cultural richness.
The commissioned work will premiere at Bunnell Street Arts Center on Sunday, September 28 and be performed by Wild Shore’s founding musicians–Katie Cox (flute), Andie Tanning (violin), and Conrad Winslow (piano)—joined by Dr. Miriam English Ward (viola), James Moore (guitar), Mariel Roberts (cello), and Eve Beglarian herself on voice. The program will also feature earlier works by Beglarian, including Peggy in the Twilight and a new interpretation of Wolf Chaser, which incorporates a traditional Inupiaq whale baleen tool gifted to the composer.
