Homer’s Rev. Lisa Talbott takes new role as “assistant to the Bishop for Equity and Intercultural Competency” for the United Methodist Church in the Pacific Northwest
Homer’s Lisa Talbott, former pastor of the United Methodist Church where she has served since 2013, has recently started her new role as Assistant to the Bishop for Equity and Intercultural Competency for the greater northwest area which covers Alaska, Washington, Oregon and Idaho. She was appointed by Bishop Cedrick D. Bridgeforth.Talbott spoke with KBBI’s Emilie Springer and shared some of her personal history in Alaska, education, ministry and some of what she hopes to bring to this new role.

With much of Alaska on high alert for a fire, forestry is a hot topic. For the latest episode of Homer Grown, host Desiree Hagen interviewed Mitch Michaud about forest ecology and a new reforestation project in the Soldotna Area. John Winters, newly retired forester from the Division of Forestry, is the other guest. He talked about forest stewardship, creating defensible space around your home, and things you thought you knew- but somehow missed, about spruce bark beetles.
