On the Kenai Peninsula, it can be hard for artists and crafters to market their work year-round. One Kenai entrepreneur and artist is trying to fix that; and in a neighborhood off Kalifornsky Beach Road, a swampy environment, insufficient infrastructure and some human activities have led to a level of flooding residents say is damaging their yards and homes. The borough mayor says he’s made progress on lowering water levels in some areas, and has long-term plans to change the water flow patterns in the area, but residents say they’re still waiting to see those impacts.
Support for the morning newscast comes from The Homer Foundation, your local community foundation serving the southern Kenai Peninsula. This spring, the Homer Foundation granted fifty thousand dollars in scholarships to local students, bringing the lifetime total to over four hundred sixty thousand dollars awarded since 1991. Impact like this would not be possible without the passion, vision, and generous support of donors and we are grateful for your involvement. Learn more at
