This is an open time to come walk or run indoors and not have to worry about the conditions outside. We will have background music playing over the speakers. Come get your stroll on!

We're excited to offer this Chair Mobility & Stretching class to our schedule! This class will be 30-min long on Mondays & Fridays from 1-1:30pm and the cost is $2 to the instructor (Maria or Rowan).

Chair yoga classes typically target those with physical disabilities or aging men/women who find a typical yoga session too challenging. It is also a great form of yoga for beginners or anyone who wants to focus on a gentle practice.
Homer, AK – Bunnell Arts by Air presents the Karen Strid Trio for “An Evening of Jazz Standards” at Bunnell Street Arts Center on Friday, May 15th, 2026 at 7pm. The concert is broadcast live on KBBI AM 890 with in-person tickets available at Bunnell. In-person audience must be seated by 6:45pm.
The Karen Strid Trio features Karen Strid-Chadwick on piano; Dale Curtis on flugelhorn, and Scott Bartlett on percussion. They are joined by guest vocalist Jonah Hopton.
Scott Bartlett is the current executive director of Homer Council on the Arts. After working as an audio engineer, producer, and educator in Seattle, his graduate studies in Ethnomusicology at the University of Hawai`i at Mānoa (MA) developed into a public sector emphasis and Museum Studies Certificate. Scott, a talented multi-percussionist, makes music with the Kenai Peninsula Orchestra, Pier One Theatre, KP Brass Band, and the cacophony at home.
Dale Curtis is a retired music educator and band director who lives in Ketchikan. He has spent most of his life playing professionally with bands throughout Alaska including the Sitka Fine Arts Camp Faculty Big Band, Sitka Jazz Festival Big Band, UAA Jazz bands and the US Air Force Band of the Pacific. Dale performed with: Mike Vax, Bobby Shew, Dianne Reeves, Lionel Hampton, to name a few. Dale has been known to perform with Frank DiSalvo at Indian Wells Resort Hotel in Palm Springs California.
Karen Strid-Chadwick is a retired professor (of 40 years) of Jazz Studies at UAA. She coordinated and produced all UAA Jazz Week festivals and the UAA Jazz Week Benefit Concerts series. Karen had the distinction of studying with the late, great John “Wendy“ Williamson, trombonist and pianist. She performs with many jazz Anchorage and Homer musicians.
Guest vocalist Jonah Hopton is a tenor and composer who graduated from the world-renowned San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
May 16 Saturday
This is an open playgroup for parents/guardians to bring their young ones* to a great big open space and let them run around and play. Bring your own toys or play with what SPARC has provided (no pedal bikes w/ brakes allowed at this time, only strider bikes & scooters). This class is available Mondays, Wednesdays & Saturdays from 10-11:30am (unless a special event interferes). Cost is $4.00 per child.* This means toddlers not in kindergarten, or not of school-age yet (~5 yrs. old & younger) -- older siblings are allowed but need to be careful of the littles!

Come play soccer, shoot hoops, toss a ball, ride a scooter, play ping pong, or bring a (clean) scooter or strider bike to ride around on, and just be active! This is your time to do what you’d like in an open environment.
