After more than a decade at KBBI — and 15 years in the community — Desiree Hagen is leaving Homer to become news director at the public radio station in Kotzebue — which hasn’t had a news department in two years.

If you find yourself in Northwestern Alaska on a Sunday morning and scan the radio dial, there’s a good chance you will hear the voice of Ernie Norton. It's been over 30 years since Norton first started volunteering at KOTZ.
