Cycle Logical celebrates 20 Years of keeping Homer on two wheels and skis
Cycle Logical, founded by Derek Reynolds in 2006, is celebrating its 20th anniversary as Homer's destination for human-powered adventure. What began as a bicycle repair operation has grown into a beloved cornerstone of the Homer community, serving cyclists, skiers, and skaters across every season.

Homer OPUS presents Strings in the Stacks
Homer OPUS is a nonprofit organization that delivers string-based music programs to youth ages kindergarten through 12th grade and adults in Homer, Alaska. The organization has several end of the school year performances coming and coordinator Elizabeth White met with Emilie Springer to provide details.

Semester by the Bay finishes Spring 2026 with a series of presentations at the Kachemak Bay Campus
The University of Alaska wraps up the spring semester with commencement on May 3rd. Homer’s Semester by the Bay offers a marine mammals concentration in the Fall and an environmental conservation concentration in the spring. The students in the spring program finished their semester with multiple events and KBBI’s Emilie Springer was able to observe several of these.

Homer Steps Up: Community walking challenge finishes in May
Homer’s month-long community walking challenge sponsored by the South Peninsula Hospital wrapped up at the end of May with a celebration to announce team winners and where their donations will go in the community. Emilie Springer spoke with Homer Steps Up coordinator Annie Garay about this year’s event challenge.

Army Corps seeks comment on plan to expand harbor
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is accepting public comment through June 22nd on a draft feasibility report for a Homer Harbor expansion.

Over the summer, Homer Public Library offers many events for Homer youth, some are on-going, full summer events and some are coordinated workshops. Emilie Springer visited the library to share some of what is being offered this week.

Mariner baseball earns state championship award
Homer Mariner’s finished their 2026 school year sports season last weekend with a state championship win in their division baseball. Emilie Springer spoke with coach Tyler Krekling and several of the players before their end of the season barbecue on Monday evening.
