Meet Theresa 'Tessie' Evans, Nanwalek's first Deaf graduate
Tessie's father, Tommy Evans, said his wife Ann, "basically told the school district that not she's not leaving. [Tessie] is not leaving, she's staying with her in the village.”He began to get choked up. “She did really good. Just pays off having a strong Mom like that. Strong community, strong culture, strong beliefs.”

City of Seldovia receives grant to improve Multipurpose facility
According to a press release from Seldovia’s City Clerk’s office, the grant funds will be used for building improvements such as plumbing and a shower for first responders, electrical and exhaust systems, new ventilation, and several building upgrades.

The first gray whale necropsy in nearly three years in Alaska was performed on a Kodiak beach on Monday.
Kachemak Bay Marine Mammal Forum
Through education and celebration, the Kachemak Marine Mammal Forum will bring a better understanding and awareness of marine mammals in Kachemak Bay and how people can be ethical viewers and stewards of their environment. It will take place next Monday April 18th -Thursday April 21st .
