Curious about Kachemak Bay’s local cultural history? Want your kiddo to learn about it too?
The Skeleton Scavenger Hunt was such a hit – so we’re rolling out a new adventure for November! Embark on a quest throughout the Museum to find and learn about Alutiiq/Sugpiaq and Dena’ina artifacts.
Included with admission until November 30th.
This is an open time to come walk or run indoors and not have to worry about the conditions outside. We will have background music playing over the speakers. Come get your stroll on!
Open to adults & teens (12+) Tues-Fri from 8:30-9:30am and Tues-Fri from 11:45am-12:45pm. Cost is $4.00 per session. (It is also okay to bring a child in a stroller to walk)
***Please bring a pair of clean indoor shoes for you & your child to change into (in the entryway). Thank you for helping to keep our new floor looking good!***

We are doing our best to take care of your refuges at this time, but some amenities and services may not be available. The visitor center will remain closed until the government reopens - all scheduled events will not occur during the lapse in appropriations. Call for Performance: 2025 Nutcracker Faire
HCOA is seeking performers to entertain shoppers at the 2025 Nutcracker Faire. If you are a solo musician, ensemble, or other type of performer and are interested in performing in the Homer High School Commons stage during the Nutcracker Faire, please fill out a submission form below.
Some things to know about this call for performance:
The Nutcracker Faire is on Saturday, December 6th from 11 am -7:30 pm and Sunday, December 7th from 12pm-5pmPerformers will be given one hour time spots.This is a family friendly event, so all performances must be clean and suitable for children.Submission form closes on Saturday, December 1st

Free Weekly Teen Art Space is back, Hosted by Drue Smith, artist & licensed clinical therapist who specializes in art, and art educator Lynn Marie Naden. Join University of Hawaii research scientists Petra Lenz and Lauren Block along with local artist Kim McNett to learn about the plankton of Resurrection Bay! We will gain insight and inspiration from these microscopic wonders of the sea to create artistic mandalas in mixed media. This beginner-friendly art project emphasizes flow-state and creative mindfulness to honor the source of life in Resurrection Bay.
Events are free and open to teens and adults. Join one or both sessions. All awesome supplies provided!
The Seward State Parks Citizen Advisory Board welcomes the public to help guide the future of Seward area state parks. The Board meets on the third Wednesday from September to November, January to April from 5:30-7:30 pm at the AVTEC Culinary Academy third floor, alley entrance. No meeting in December
Dr. Sarah Spencer is board-certified in family and addiction medicine and has been providing treatment for addiction in rural Alaska for 15 years. She now provides family medicine and addiction treatment services at Ninilchik Traditional Council. She is the volunteer medical director of Alaska’s first rural syringe access program in Homer, is a co-author of the state’s medications for addiction treatment guide, and provides addiction medicine consultation for non-profits, including the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium and the Opioid Response Network. Join us for an informative presentation where she will share valuable insights into understanding addiction and recovery in our community.After, we’ll have an hour of Vinyasa Flow led by Maggie Kao. As always, free soup and bread will be provided, and all are welcome!
