Caseload Drops for Homer PD During Pandemic Year

During Monday night’s Homer City Council Committee of the Whole meeting, council members heard the annual report from city Police Chief Mark Robl.
    His report showed that one side effect of the Covid-19 Pandemic in the past year has been a sizable reduction in the police citations.

Police ID Body Found on Homer Spit

Update: Police identified the man found dead on the Homer Spit Saturday as 56-year-old Jeff Wraley of Homer. Wraley's next of kin have been notified. The police do not suspect foul play. 

A beach walker found a man’s body on the Homer Spit near Mariner Park on Saturday. Homer Police Chief Mark Robl says the body was discovered around noon.

“We responded to the scene and we discovered a white male adult with silvery gray hair, approximately 55 to 65 years of age, dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound,” said Robl.

Homer Cannabis Club Could Face Legal Battle

A new cannabis club has opened its doors on a major street in Downtown Homer and some residents are taking full advantage of the opportunity to use marijuana in - what they call - a safe, social environment. But, the club might not be legal.


City Works To Relocate Winter Campers

The City of Homer is trying to kick out campers at an unofficial campsite on the Homer Spit. Police are telling people living in a parking lot beside the Seafarer’s Memorial to move to an official campground down the road. One camper is willing to move, but he has one request.


This past Wednesday, January 6th, around 10:30 p.m. someone robbed the Short Stop Tesoro on top of Baycrest Hill at gunpoint. Just after 10 a.m. on December 28th, someone held up Fat Olives Espresso. That’s two armed robberies in Homer in two weeks.
