Organizers say the event, called “Hands Off! Homer Fights Back,” is part of a national movement opposing policies they say threaten health care, education, and public services.

Similar protests took place across Alaska, and the nation, on Presidents Day. In Homer, residents raised concerns about democracy, national policies and recent federal decisions.

Protesters gathered on Pioneer Avenue in Homer on Monday afternoon to raise awareness on alleged mistreatment of residents staying with Homer Senior Citizens.
