The Covid Brief - Vaccinations Now Available for 5-11-Year-Olds
This week there's news that children ages 5-11 may now receive the Pfizer vaccine after CDC and FDA approval. Appointments for a Saturday vaccination clinic at the high school are already being taken at South Peninsula Hospital's website.

Tribe to hold virtual Dena'ina workshop for early language learners
The Kenaitze Indian Tribe received a two-year Emergency Native Language grant from the American Rescue Plan Act to hold free Dena’ina language workshops for beginners. The series is part of a mosaic of language revitalization work from the Kenaitze Indian Tribe
Emilie Springer: 'Kids Don't Float;' Statewide Program Began in Homer
In early 1996, the Homer Fire Department, with a grant from the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services, collaborated with Homer Safe Kids, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Homer School District to establish 15 life jacket loaner stations in communities around Kachemak Bay.

Mount Marathon: Regulatory adjustments for 2026
Seward prepares to register 2026 lottery entrants for the summer’s upcoming Mount Marathon mountain race. Those interested have until the end of the month to submit their name. Emilie Springer spoke with race director Matias Saari and has details on some of the new regulations for the 2026 race.
