Kachemak Bay Campus holds 2026 commencement ceremony
The University of Alaska (UA) system holds spring commencement ceremonies across all state campuses in early May 2026. Homer’s ceremony took place on the local campus on May 6th. KBBI’s Emilie Springer attended the event and captured highlights from the speakers.

Seward Chamber sponsors the 71st Annual Seward Silver Salmon Derby
Seward’s 71st annual silver salmon derby will open on August 8th. At 71 years, this is one of the oldest derby’s in the state of Alaska, second to the Valdez silver salmon derby that started in 1952.
