Homer Public Library doors now open

Apr 1, 2021

There was big news on Thursday morning’s Covid Brief. The library is now open to walk-ins. It was an announcement from the city that many in Homer have waited a year for.

City spokesperson Jenny Carroll said the change was due to a lowering of the city’s alert level from orange to yellow.
“You no longer have to make an appointment to be in the library,” she said. “The library is open to walk-ins from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. And then there’s a short break for cleaning. And then it’s open again from 3:30 to 5 p.m., and that’s Monday through Friday.”
Carroll said all the services the library has developed during its closure due to the coronavirus pandemic will continue, such as curbside delivery, laptop check-out, and free, high-speed wireless in the parking lot.
Drop-in activities at the city’s indoor recreation facilities are now allowed as well, though appointments can still be made. To secure a spot go to the city’s website.
