Hearing in Dog Fish Bay case scheduled for Sept.

Aaron Bolton, KBBI News

The four men accused of illegally harvesting thousands of pounds of salmon near Homer will make their first appearance in court next month.

Alaska State Troopers filed several misdemeanor charges against Mark Roth, Paul Roth, Robert Roth and Eric Winslow in the Homer District Court earlier this week. Authorities says the men worked for hours in Dog Fish Bay on July 20 to push large schools of salmon out of waters closed to commercial seining. Police say the fishermen also harvested some of the fish in closed waters.

Troopers seized all 33,000 pounds of fish harvested during the alleged incident, most of which were chum salmon.

The arraignment hearing in the case is scheduled for Sept. 19 in Homer.
