Homer resident documents coastal erosion in the Arctic

Courtesy of Bjorn Olson.

Homer resident Bjorn Olson is a filmmaker, photographer and self-described environmentalist. Olson has taken several trips into northern Alaska using mostly man-powered means of transportation. He returned to the Arctic this summer with his partner and two friends to bike about 420 miles from the village of Point Hope to Utqiagvik, but the trip wasn’t just an adventure. The group also documented coastal erosion, and Olson will give a presentation on the trip Saturday as part of the Kachemak Bay Conservation Society’s Alaskans Know Climate Change initiative. KBBI’s Aaron Bolton sat down with Olson to talk about the trip.

Aaron Bolton has moved on to a new position in Montana; he is no longer KBBI News Director. KBBI is currently seeking a News Director, and Kathleen Gustafson is filling in for the time being.
