No Tsunami threat from sizable Gulf quake

A strong 6.8 earthquake struck 75 miles east of Chignik early this (Monday) morning. The quake, located at a depth of 25 miles, struck at 1:10 a.m., according to the National Tsunami Warning Center in Palmer. In an information statement, the Center says that based on earthquake information and historic tsunami records, the earthquake is not expected to generate a tsunami.
