No classes were held at Nanwalek School Tuesday after a fire in a home next door. Details are sketchy, but Kenai Peninsula Borough School District spokesperson Pegge Erkeneff said the cause is under investigation, adding that “resources are enroute to Nanwalek to ensure facilities will be safe to reopen school.”
Those resources included representatives from the borough maintenance department, electrical systems service, HEA consultants, and the Alaska State Troopers.
Calls to the troopers for more information were not immediately returned.
