Anticipating cuts in funding from the state of Alaska, this summer, The Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly will consider several tax changes aimed at increasing revenue. Borough Mayor Mike Navarre says the overhaul is long overdue. One proposal would double the maximum purchase amount subject to sales tax. Another would gradually eliminate the optional portion of the Borough's senior property tax exemption. And a third proposal contains approximately 40 other revisions to the tax code. KBBI News Director, Daysha Eaton talks with Mayor Navarre about the proposed changes.
The second proposal, about eliminating the senior property tax exemption, is set to be introduced at Tuesday (6/7) evening's meeting of the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly. You can listen to the meeting live at 6 p.m. on KBBI AM 890 or stream it from our website www.kbbi.org
