Homer hunters plead guilty to wildlife charges

Alaska State Troopers

Two Homer men pleaded guilty in district court to illegal hunting charges. The charges stem from a September 2015 investigation of a moose hunt near Ninilchik.

According to Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Fadey V. Kuzmin, 43, of Homer, pleaded guilty to taking a bull moose during a closed season and taking more than the limit of moose. Both counts came with fines of $3,000 with $1,000 suspended on each.

He was also ordered to pay restitution of $1,000 per moose for a total of $2,000 and had to forfeit the meat and antlers of both bulls to the state along with his hunting rifle. His hunting privileges have been revoked until January 2018 and he will remain on probation through May 2018.

Dimitry V. Kuzmin, 38, of Homer, pleaded guilty to unlawful possession and transport of game, according to a trooper dispatch on May 13.

He was fined $2,000 dollars with $750 dollars suspended. His hunting privileges have also been revoked through January 2018.
