ARTIFACT QUEST AT THE PRATT

Curious about Kachemak Bay’s local cultural history? Want your kiddo to learn about it too?

The Skeleton Scavenger Hunt was such a hit – so we’re rolling out a new adventure for November! Embark on a quest throughout the Museum to find and learn about Alutiiq/Sugpiaq and Dena’ina artifacts.

Included with admission until November 30th.

South Peninsula Hospital is sponsoring open walks again this year! All are welcome to these open walks (strollers, elders, walking sticks, wheel chairs, ect.). No sign up is required. Some Mondays we will also offer health education opportunities such flu shots, blood pressure checks, surveys, and more.

We're excited to offer this Chair Mobility & Stretching class to our schedule! This class will be 30-min long on Mondays & Fridays from 12:45-1:15pm and the cost is $2 to the instructor (Maria or Rowan).

"Chair Yoga" is a gentle practice in which postures are performed while seated and/or with the aid of a chair. Chair yoga classes typically target those with physical disabilities or aging men/women who find a typical yoga session too challenging. It is also a great form of yoga for beginners or anyone who wants to focus on a gentle practice.

Call for Performance: 2025 Nutcracker Faire

HCOA is seeking performers to entertain shoppers at the 2025 Nutcracker Faire. If you are a solo musician, ensemble, or other type of performer and are interested in performing in the Homer High School Commons stage during the Nutcracker Faire, please fill out a submission form below.

Some things to know about this call for performance:

The Nutcracker Faire is on Saturday, December 6th from 11 am -7:30 pm and Sunday, December 7th from 12pm-5pm
Performers will be given one hour time spots.
This is a family friendly event, so all performances must be clean and suitable for children.
Submission form closes on Saturday, December 1st

Fun With 5x6x7, a community show of small works at the Homer Council on the Arts Gallery on 10/7 from 5-7pm! This open call group show features over 100 artworks from artists across Alaska showcasing a variety of mediums and styles, just in time for holiday gift giving.

On Display from November 7th to December 8th in the HCOA Gallery

Come play soccer, shoot hoops, toss a ball, ride a scooter, play ping pong, or bring a (clean) scooter or strider bike to ride around on, and just be active! This is your time to do what you’d like in an open environment. This class is $4.00 pp and is open to all ages (unaccompanied minors must be at least in 3rd grade w/ parents' permission & signing of SPARC waiver).

Sorry, NO roller skates, skateboards, or pedal bikes w/ brakes are allowed at this time.

We are so excited to have Katie Jo at the SPARC teaching a Zumba class Mondays from 5:30-6:30pm. This class is available to adults & high schoolers (14+) for $7.00 ($4 for SPARC & $3 for instructor).

Zumba is a workout that mixes low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party, combining all elements of fitness – cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, boosted energy and a lot of fun.

Learn the Mariners' art of scrimshaw with naturalist and artist Conrad Field. The class, which starts January 12, meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:30 pm for 4 & 1/2 weeks at Kachemak Bay Campus. The fee is $150, which includes supplies. The curriculum will guide students through carving techniques on a variety of materials, ending with a mounted piece of art on bone or antler. WOOHOO!!! Ultimate Frisbee is back on Mondays from 6:45-8:45pm! This class is now open to teens & adults (12 yo & up w/ parents' permission & signing of SPARC waiver). Cost is $6 for adults & $4 for students 12+/military/veterans/seniors 62+.

Come join the fun and toss some discs! We will be practicing and playing with official indoor 5v5 rules.
