Celebration of Lifelong Learning 2024 to to take place at the Homer Public Library on Saturday, April 20, 2024
6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Each year the Friends of the Homer Public Library honors one adult community member and one youth who has shown endless commitment to acquiring an exceptional skill or knowledge. This is an adult or youth who is always trying something new, sharing what they have found with others, and who has an infectious passion for learning and exploration. Join us in our 2024 celebration of Lifelong Learner Honoree Nancy Lord and Youth Learner Honoree Spencer Co.

The evening’s festivities will include delicious appetizers provided by The Tickled Pear, live harp music by Michelle Morton, the ever-popular Trivia Tree contest with Kathleen Gustafson, program entertainment provided by talented high school students, delectable desserts by BB's Bakery and an interesting, creative array of Silent Auction items.

Besides honoring Lifelong Learners, this occasion of celebration is also a major fundraising event for our premier program, the Summer Reading Program. Read, Renew and Repeat Summer@HPL 2024 is starting soon! You will learn more about upcoming Summer Reading Program activities, and have an opportunity to help sponsor local youth participation. For every emerging reader you sponsor for $25, you will receive a colorful bookmark of an Alaskan Animal Reading with artwork by Rachel Tussey. You may recognize the six different bookmark designs of animals reading books from the illustrations displayed on BOB the Bookmobile. If you sponsor five summer readers for $125, you’ll receive all six unique bookmarks as a token of our thanks.
