Homer City Council members vote Monday on an ordinance that would put Airbnb and other short-term rental platforms in charge of collecting the city’s sales tax, instead of leaving it to individual hosts.

After months of public discussions, the Homer City Council unanimously rejected an ordinance that would require short-term rental operators to register their property.

Projects for the city of Homer moved forward while a contentious short term rental ordinance came to a halt at the Feb. 26 city council meeting.
