Wondering about that orange glow lighting up Homer sky Saturday morning?
It was a downed power line near Island View Court. The Homer Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene shortly before 8 a.m. Saturday after receiving reports about a fire caused by the downed line. Responders closed roads in the area and Homer Electric Association responded shortly after.
KBBI could not reach Homer Electric Association, but it did post on its Facebook at 9:00 a.m. that it shut off power to the line. About 470 customers went without power for about 40 minutes. The line appears to be fixed.
