Land's End owner, Jon Faulkner, leaves Department of Commerce

KBBI

Homer businesses man Jon Faulkner is no longer serving as deputy commissioner of the Alaska Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development after only four months on the job. Faulkner is the owner of the Land’s End Hotel on the Homer Spit and is a well-known figure in the state Republican Party.

The Dunleavy administration announced his appointment back in December. At the time, Faulkner told KBBI his focus in the position would be on job growth. KBBI reached out to Faulkner for comment on his departure, but did not receive a call back in time for this story.

Assistant Commissioner Shawn Williams said in an email that Faulkner’s last day was on April 12, but was not able to provide a specific reason for his departure other than Faulkner mentioning “his family business responsibilities have called him back to Homer.”

Aaron Bolton has moved on to a new position in Montana; he is no longer KBBI News Director. KBBI is currently seeking a News Director, and Kathleen Gustafson is filling in for the time being.
