Stephanie Stillwell wanted to help the Ojibwe communities and reservations her family lived on in Minnesota. She wanted to work with those struggling with addiction and other preventable diseases, but life after nursing school brought her to Alaska. However, she’s still working with Native populations on the southern Kenai Peninsula by organizing the opioid task force in Homer. Now her work in her adopted home is helping those she originally hoped to serve.
