Borough OKs Marijuana Licenses

Courtesy of the Kenai Peninsula Borough.

Prospective Kenai Peninsula commercial marijuana business cleared another hurdle Tuesday, as the borough assembly supported the issuance of licenses from the state Alcohol Marijuana Control Board.

Nine Kenai Peninsula applicants applied for commercial marijuana licenses from the state board, which approved seven of them. The other two were told to submit additional information. In order for the businesses to actually open and operate, though, they also need the approval of the borough. The assembly passed all nine with little fanfare lumped together in its consent agenda Tuesday, agreeing to issue letters of non-objection to the state.

Two of the applicants are in Kasilof, two are in Nikiski, one is in Sterling, one in Homer, one just northeast of Soldotna, and the two needing to submit more information are from Seward.
