Bears encounters continue in Kachemak Bay Park

Alaska State Parks

Another bear is making itself known along the trails of Kachemak Bay Park. Park Specialist

Eric Clarke reports that two hikers encountered a possible black bear less than a mile from the Grewingk Tram heading towards the north side of Grewingk Lake and the Blue Ice Trail.

Though the bear was not actually seen, it was heard in the brush below the trail huffing and making movements interpreted as possible bluff charges.

There have been several black bear encounters on the trails of Kachemak Bay State Park this summer, including increased sightings of brown bears.
