A widespread outage on the afternoon of March 30 left several thousand people without power on the Kenai Peninsula.
Homer Electric Association said the outage started just after noon while employees were performing maintenance. A generator step-up or GSU transformer at Bradley Lake Hydroelectric Plant was re-energized, they noted in a release.
That caused the system frequency to destabilize, which led to the outage, cutting power temporarily to about 14,000 members. HEA said they were able to restore all power just before 1 p.m.
