Harbor Moorage Rate Will Increase Next Year

Homer City Council approved a new graduated harbor moorage rate on Oct. 24.

The harbor moorage rate will increase by five cents per linear foot, effective Jan. 1, 2017.

The moorage rate increase is limited to vessels 86 feet and under. This is the largest size vessel that will fit into a stall in the Homer harbor.

The new moorage rate structure, which was unanimously recommended by the Port and Harbor Advisory Commission, is known as a progressive rate structure. Under this system, harbors charge larger vessels more per linear foot than smaller vessels.
