School Board Member Liz Downing Resigns

Shahla Farzan / KBBI

After 11 years of service on the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District Board of Education, Homer representative Liz Downing has retired.

Downing submitted an official resignation request at the August 8 School Board meeting, just one year before the end of her current term. KBBI reporter Shahla Farzan talks with Downing about her time on the school board and some of the issues facing the school district.

The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District is now accepting applications for the vacant School Board seat.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, a registered Alaska voter and a resident of the Kenai Peninsula for at least 180 days. Initial review of the applications will begin on September 27.
