Bunnell Presents Decolonizing Alaska

Decolonizing Alaska, a new show at Homer’s Bunnell Street Arts Center, opens Friday, Aug. 5 at 5 p.m. In the works for the past several years, the mixed media show features over 30 Alaska Native and non-Native Alaskan artists exploring impacts of colonization on people and the planet. KBBI News Director Daysha Eaton talks with Asia Freeman, the Artistic/Executive Director at Bunnell Street Arts Center and the curator for Decolonizing Alaska.

Decolonizing Alaska will show at Bunnell Street Arts Center through August.

It then travels to Valdez Historical and Fine Arts Museum, Corcoran School of Art and Design in Washington D.C, the Alaska State Museum in Juneau, and the Alaska Humanities Forum in Anchorage.

The IAIA Museum of Contemporary Native Arts in Santa Fe has reserved the show for January to May of 2018.
