Cynthia Franklin is Director of the Alcoholic Beverage and Marijuana Control Board. Late last week, the Board approved seven applications for pot businesses on the Kenai Peninsula. Two licenses were issued in Kasilof, two in the Nikiski area, one in Sterling, one just outside Soldotna, and one in Homer. Two applications, both located in Seward, were tabled pending further information. KBBI’sDaysha Eaton talks with Franklin.

As Franklin notes in the interview, the licensees cannot start growing immediately. The borough Planning Commission will now review applications and the borough assembly could review and approve them as soon as a June 21st meeting.

Daysha Eaton holds a B.A. from Evergreen State College, and a M.A. from the University of Southern California. Daysha got her start in radio at Seattle public radio stations, KPLU and KUOW. Before coming to KBBI, she was the News Director at KYUK in Bethel. She has also worked as the Southcentral Reporter for KSKA in Anchorage.
