Kenai Peninsula Borough School Board Honors Homer Educator

The Kenai Peninsula Borough School Board honored Homer educator, Clayton Smith, with their ‘Golden Apple’ award at their regular meeting Monday evening in Soldotna. 

Smith is an intensive needs, special education, para-professional at Homer High School. He has worked as a para-educator at Homer Middle School and at Homer High School for around 15 years.

The school board member representing Homer, Liz Downing, praised Smith for his flexibility, inclusiveness and passion for life-long learning.

Daysha Eaton holds a B.A. from Evergreen State College, and a M.A. from the University of Southern California. Daysha got her start in radio at Seattle public radio stations, KPLU and KUOW. Before coming to KBBI, she was the News Director at KYUK in Bethel. She has also worked as the Southcentral Reporter for KSKA in Anchorage.
