Trails Report for Kachemak Bay State Park: June 30, 2021
Hello, this is Ingrid from Friends of Kachemak Bay State Park with the weekly trail report updated Wednesday, June 30th.
The following trails are clear and passable:
China Poot Lake Trail is flooded but passable with hip waders.
Coalition Trail and Diamond Creek Trail are passable.
Estuary Trail, Glacier Lake Trail, and Grace Ridge Trail are all passable.
At Grewingk Tram Spur Trail, there has been a brown bear sighting.
So please be bear aware.
Sadie Knob Trail and Saddle Trail are passable as well as
Tutka Hatchery Spur Trail, Tutka-Jakalof Trail and Tutka Lake Trail.
The following trails are passable but difficult:
This includes Blue Ice Trail and Grewingk Tram,
where we suggest two people and gloves for operation,
and the Moose Valley Trail.
And finally, the following trails are difficult to impassable:
Alpine Ridge, Emerald Lake Loop Trail.
We do not recommend hiking to the Lake Coalition Loop Trail, it's impassable to the falls.
So please don't hike to the falls.
Goat Rope Trail is difficult. At Lagoon Trail, there is no bridge across the creek.
Fjord at your own risk.
Mallard Bay Trail and Mallard-Emerald Connector Trail are both impassable.
Poot Peak Trail - North, South and Summit are difficult to impassable.
Sentinel Ridge and Tutka Back Door are not recommended to hike at this time.
And Woznesenski River Trail, with the overflow channel,
is impassable three miles from Haystack Rock to mile nine.
