Trails Report for Kachemak Bay State Park - May 12, 2021

Friends of Kachemak Bay State Park

Hello, this is Ingrid with Friends of the Kachemak  Bay State Park. Here is the Trails Report released Wednesday, May 12th 2021.

The current snowline is approximately 500 to 1000 feet. Snow is patchy at lower elevations.
 
Snow shoes and or skis are recommended for travel above 600 feet.
 

The following trails are passable:
 
Estuary Trail, Glacier Lake Trail, Grewingk Tram Spur Trail, and Grewingk Tram – suggested for two people and gloves for operation and the Saddle Trail.

 
 Please be bear aware as bears are becoming active in the area.

 
The following trails are difficult, but passable:
 
Alpine Ridge, Blue Ice Trail, China Poot Lake Trail,
Emerald Lake Loop Trail,  Goat Rope Trail, Grace Ridge Trail, Lagoon Trail, Moose Valley Trail Sadie Knob Trail, Tutka Bay Hatchery Spur Trail, Tutka- Jakolof Trail and Tutka Lake Trail as well as Woznesenski River Trail.

 
The following trails are impassable and not recommended:
 
Coalition Loop Trail is impassable to the falls. Please do not hike to the falls. Mallard Bay Trail is impassable, Mallard Emerald Connector Trail as well as Poot Peak Trail - North Route, South Route and Summit Route.
