Tribal Ownership in Modern and Traditional Science
George Anderson, Chignik Intertribal Coalition
George Anderson grew up spending summers in Chignik and winters in Kodiak. Spring brought boat rides across Shelikof Strait to get the boats and gear ready, followed by a hard-fished commercial season, and then subsistence fishing to meet winter needs. Waters around Chignik also supported fisheries for crab, halibut, herring, and cod, but these stocks have been decimated, and salmon now appear to be following.
This free public video seminar is delivered as a large-screen presentation in room 202 at the UA Kachemak Bay campus in Homer; a short question and answer session is provided at the end of the presentation.
