As part of this Kachemak Bay State Park Citizen Advisory Board Public Speaker Series, Tom Kizzia will share a presentation on "How the oil companies saved Kachemak Bay State Park, twice, by screwing up, twice".

Tom Kizzia is a journalist and author living in Homer, Alaska. Tom traveled during a 25-year career as a reporter for the Anchorage Daily News. He was named 2022 Historian of the Year by the Alaska Historical Society for his book Cold Mountain Path. He is also the author of the bestselling Pilgrim's Wilderness and his book The Wake of the Unseen Object has now been re-issued in the Alaska classics series of the University of Alaska Press. His journalism has appeared in many national magazines and newspapers, including The New Yorker and the New York Times.
