Homer Burning Basket 2024

Homer Burning Basket 2024

The 21st annual Burning Basket this year is entitled GIVE - Basket of Remembrance & Unburdening, it will be a celebration of what has become a Homer autumnal tradition of community supported, volunteer dependent, weather affected labor of art & love.

A large intricately woven basket sculpture is built at Mariner Park.
All are invited to help build the basket during build week Sept. 1-7. M-Sat. noon-8pm. Participate as much or as little as you like.

Then on Sept. 8 the basket is given as a gift to all inviting public participation by way of decorating it as a memorial to departed community members and loved ones and personal sentiments. Written burdens of the heart, gratitude, and manifestation may be tucked inside.

At sundown the basket is ignited and burned as a performance of fire-art to symbolically disperse our collective positive intentions. Drumming and fire-spinning, also. The event, attended by hundreds, is a free, no alcohol event.
