Free talk: Boosting Rural Community Food Security in Tyonek, AK

Free talk: Boosting Rural Community Food Security in Tyonek, AK

This is the final session in the 2026 KNOW YOUR LAND series of talks. Presented by Laurie Stuart, Executive Director, of the Tyonek Tribal Conservation District. Learn about ways they are boosting food security through community gardens and high tunnel greenhouses built to grow food for the whole village, coupled with salmon habitat and fish passage projects on stream crossings that have been compromised by previous development in the area. Their story is inspiring and provides good food for thought for all Alaskan communities - think of the phrase "subsistence is our agriculture."
