Carol Lambert Exhibit Opening

Carol Lambert Exhibit Opening

Anchorage printmaker Carol Lambert exhibits at Bunnell Street Arts Center for the month of December. The exhibit opens on Friday, December 1st, from 5-7pm with an artist talk at 6pm. Lambert will also host a monotype workshop on December 2nd from noon- 4 pm at Kenai Peninsula College’s Kachemak Bay Campus.

Perseverance is an exhibition of multicolor intaglio etchings and other works on paper by Carol Lambert. Lambert’s images touch on common experiences, including birth, death, trust, fear, safety, threat, and conditions on planet Earth. Both cartooning and classical drawing inform her whimsical style. Her work bridges fantasy and realism as she explores her theme of resilience in the face of peril.

Lambert states, “My work draws attention to survival, and to the ways survival might succeed or fail… In worlds subject to threats, crises, and failures, the protagonists in my work show how play, cooperation, imagination, humor, curiosity and courage can be assets in the struggle. Whether wise or foolish, human or non-human, imaginary or factual, they have their resources. They persevere. In this they affirm my personal formula for life: don’t give up. My gratitude goes to the Dena’ina people, who have allowed me to be an uninvited guest on their land for 40 years. Their hospitality makes my work possible.”

Carol Lambert was born in Tampa, FL, and has lived in Alaska for 44 years. She has pursued training in drawing, painting and printmaking through courses at University of Alaska, Anchorage; Grant Central Academy, New York; the Art Students League, New York; Gage Academy, Seattle; and Crown Point Press, San Francisco. Lambert has exhibited in numerous solo, juried and group shows. Her work is in many private collections. She holds a BA in Art and Art history from Brown University, an AA in Counseling Psychology from Goddard College, and PhD in Clinical Psychology from Fielding Graduate Institute.
