Basic Fruit Tree Pruning Class January 30 & 31, Kachemak Bay Campus
Kachemak Bay Campus presents local fruit tree expert Tim Alzheimer, who will teach a two-part class on the basics of pruning fruit trees to help you get your feet under you. Do you have fruit trees that are in need of pruning, but feel it is a daunting task? Are you interested in planting fruit trees but nervous about the maintenance and upkeep? We hope to take away the fear and give you the confidence to start pruning your own trees. This course begins Friday, January 30, from 5:30 to 7 pm in the classroom, where you'll learn the philosophy of pruning trees, the anatomy of a fruit tree, types of tree forms, and tree pruning priorities. Then on Saturday afternoon, we'll take it outside in a field session at Bear Creek Winery's orchard for some live demos. Class and field trip are $50.
