Andrew O’Connor Soundscape Production Workshop, 4/16 + 4/23

Bunnell Street Arts Center welcomes sound artist, radio producer and storyteller Andrew O’Connor for the month of April. O’Connor will provide an artist talk on Friday, April 12th, host a community workshop on sound production on April 16th and 23th, and a workshop on pirate radio on April 18th.

Soundscape Production Workshop by Andrew O’Connor: Tuesday, April 16th and 23rd, 5 – 7pm at KBBI. Each participant records and composes their own soundscape piece over the course of the workshop. Limited to 10 participants. $25 suggested donation.

“My aim is to create a work for multiple low watt FM transmitters set up along the streets of Homer. My time will be spent engaging the local community in interviews and recording the soundscapes of the city at all times of the day and night. This would be edited into a series of audio collages about 10 minutes long. Each loop is specific to where it is being played, a collage of community voices and sounds about that location, the stories, the memory and experience that live in this place. The structure of this work with multiple transmitters playing loops of different lengths, 24/7 creates an ever evolving collage of sounds and stories that no two people will hear the same way twice.”

While in residence at Bunnell, Andrew will create audio collages about Homer for multiple low watt FM transmitters set up along the streets of Homer.
