30th Annual Plate Project Painting
30th Annual Plate Project Painting
Bunnell Street Arts Center invites you to paint a commemorative art plate in support of the 30th Annual Plate Project fundraiser! Join us to paint during normal gallery hours, or paint at home. Bunnell will hold additional Plate Painting workshops in March with artist Kendra Harvey and Bunnell staff and friends.
Every year dozens of Alaskan artists create unique art plates for Bunnell’s Plate Project. The bisqued plates are blank “canvases” for brilliant food-safe underglazes. Plate painters are artists, community members, and Bunnell supporters - anyone committed to crafting an excellent plate that will raise essential operating support for the mission and programs of Bunnell Street Arts Center. Plates are exhibited at the Annual Plate Project Opening in May, and competitively selected by new and renewing members annually for $125 - $1000 donations to Bunnell.
The Plate Project would not be possible without the time and talent of Homer potters who transform hundreds of pounds of clay into 100+ plates each year. An artist-led community effort since 1994, the Plate Project provides essential support for the mission and programs of Bunnell Street Arts Center. This year’s plate project will be fired by Plate Project originator, Ahna Iredale.
Bunnell Street Arts Center's mission is to spark artistic inquiry, innovation and equity to strengthen the physical, social and economic fabric of Alaska.
