This Saturday in Homer, there will be a march and rally to commemorate the one hundredth anniversary of women’s suffrage – that is, the right to vote. In 1920, that meant only the whitest, most privileged women were granted the right to vote. KBBI’s Kathleen Gustafson spoke to Julia Person, one of the organizers of Homer Women Rising to talk about the need to reach out to Native women. Person says the goal of the march is not just to celebrate.

The  Homer Women Rising March, happens this Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. at The HERC building, 326 Woodside Avenue, just off Pioneer Avenue in downtown Homer.
