For decades, South Peninsula Haven House has organized a dinner and auction that has become an important fundraiser for the organization.

South Peninsula Haven House is currently seeking nominations for its 21st annual Women of Distinction awards, celebrating strong and inspirational women in the community. The organization’s largest and most important fundraiser and outreach event takes place on March 27th, with nominations due on Monday, March 2nd.


The work of supporting survivors of domestic violence happens year round. But as it is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, South Peninsula Haven House staff appeared on The Coffee Table on Wednesday morning with KBBI’s Kathleen Gustafson to talk about strategies for ending domestic violence and about support systems for survivors and their families.

When a family loses their belongings to fire, when a service member comes home, when a kid needs to sit for a filmed, forensic interview at Haven House, Kachemak Bay Quilters make quilts to help everyone feel safe and welcome. KBBI’s Kathleen Gustafson visited their weekly meeting at Kachemak City Center, for this story.

There’s a new facility in town for those who have experienced violence and sexual assault. The Center for Excellence aims to provide more comfortable and private care for both adult and children who are victims.

South Peninsula Hospital Forensic Nurse Colleen James gave a tour of the new Center for Excellence during an open house.  

“This is a room, the talking room, so that people can come in this space, and it's comfortable. It's called more of a soft interview room,” she said.
