Forest School is Slated to be Homer's Newest Charter School

This episode originally aired on 11/9/22

Another group on the south peninsula is currently working to create a charter school, called the Homer Forest School. School Board President Zen Kelly said that group submitted their charter intention by the deadline, but is still going through a process of making revisions to their application that will allow the board to sign off on the charter.

Host Josh Krohn was joined this week by guests from the area’s newest charter school, the Homer Forest School. They discussed how charter schools are organized, what a forest school is and how students learn in an outdoor classroom.

Josh is a graduate of the University of Nebraska with a degree in communications and broadcasting, and a Certified Audio Engineer through the Society of Broadcast Engineers. At 13, he got his first taste for public radio when he interned at KBBI, an experience that shaped his career. Josh returns to Homer after twelve years with Classical 90.7 KVNO, in Omaha, Nebraska, where he was senior audio engineer and production coordinator. Previously he was station manager/general manager of KUHB-FM, St. Paul, Alaska, in the Pribilof Islands.
