Alaska State Troopers and Homer Police arrested suspect Dellan Vanbuskirkin Anchor Point after a 2-mile foot chase Friday afternoon, according to Trooper spokesperson Megan Peters. She says a Trooper responded to a home in Anchor Point where he ran into Vanbuskirk.

“A struggle ensued between the trooper and him and then Vanbuskirk was able to break away and start running and fleeing from where the trooper was. The Trooper was able to keep up enough to keep the guy in sight and call for backup so a Homer PD unit responded as well as another Trooper and after about 2 miles they were finally able to get him into custody,” said Peters.

Homer Police issued a press release asking for the public’s help finding Vanbuskirk, of Homer, this morning.

Police Chief Mark Robl says Vanbuskirk hadn’t been making scheduled meetings with his parole officer and is a suspect in other crimes.

“I’m really not at liberty to release the types of crimes we suspect him of but yes we do suspect him of committing some crimes in the Homer area,” said Robl.

Police say they arrested Vanbuskirk on an outstanding warrant for driving with a revoked drivers’ license and he is also being charged with probation and parole violations. The other case he is a suspect in is still under investigation, according to Robl and police plan to release more information Monday.

Robl says the arrest was primarily due to a response to the department’s press release. According to Alaska Court View Vanbuskirk has a criminal history dating back to 2000.
