Q&A with invocation case plaintiff Elise Boyer

Shahla Farzan / KBBI

It’s been nearly two years since the American Civil Liberties Union of Alaska sued the Kenai Peninsula Borough over a restrictive invocation policy the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly implemented in 2016 following a contentious invocation.

Elise Boyer is a Jewish woman from Homer who joined the case after she was prohibited from leading an invocation under the policy. KBBI’s Aaron Bolton spoke with Boyer about the October court ruling that deemed the policy unconstitutional and the assembly’s upcoming decision whether to appeal the ruling.
