One dead, five injured in Sterling Hwy collision

AK State Troopers

Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision at mile 142 on the Sterling Highway on  Sunday, July 7.  Michael Frankllin, age 18, of Palmer died as a result of injuries sustained when his  Subaru collided with a truck driven by Garrett Bowley. Five passengers were in the truck. Four were transported from the scene by ground ambulance, one passenger was transported to Providence Hospital in Anchorage by LifeMed.
Troopers say an investigation is ongoing.

Correction: Alaska State Troopers originally identified Franklin as being from Homer. Troopers have since corrected their report and now list Michael Franklin’s home as Palmer, Alaska.
